Sidha medicine is one of the traditional Indian medicine systems.  The word Sidha literally means acquiring knowledge and those who have acquired sufficient knowledge in Sidha medicine are known as Sidhars or Sidha doctors. It is said that thus branch is formed from a contribution of eighteen Sidha specialists.

Sidha specialist treat and diagnose diseases based on methods described in Sidha book which is written in Tamil. Hence Sidha medicine is more popular around places in India whose native language is Tamil. Sidha medicine is better suited in all forms of diseass except emergencies.

In the past, there was only one option available for freshly graduated doctors (after passing BAMS or Sidha doctors, and that was to start one’s own practice. However, today there are many promising opportunities available for BAMS graduates.
