Hello Krishna,

The minimum duration of the Chartered Accountancy Course for a person joining after Class XIIth (i.e. through CPT Route) is 4.5 years. The minimum duration of the Chartered Accountancy Course for a person joining after Graduation (i.e. through Direct Entry Scheme) is 3 years.

To be a CA you first have to crack the entrance exam i.e CA foundation. It consists of both subjective and objective type questions consisting of 400 marks. It consists the following subjects -

* Business laws and business correspondence and reporting

* Business mathematics logical reasoning and statistics

* Principles of accounting

* Business economics and business and commercial knowledge

The CA intermediate has 8 subjects

* Accounting

* Corporate and other laws

* Taxation

* Cost and management accounting

* Auditing and assurance

* Advance accounting

* Enterprise information system and strategic management

* Financial management and economics for finance

The CA final has 8 subjects -

* Strategic financial management

* Financial reporting

* Corporate laws and economic laws

* Advanced accounting and professional ethics

* Advanced indirect tax laws

* Advanced Direct tax laws and international taxation

* Advanced management accounting

* Financial services and capital market and information system control and audit.

Krishna, CA has 3 phases namely, CA Foundation, CA Intermediate and CA Final.

CA Foundation: You have to complete your 12th in any stream to be eligible for CA Foundation. You should complete 4 months study period before June/December to be eligible for CA Foundation.

CA Intermediate: You can enter CA Intermediate through Direct route after pursuing your Graduation degree in Commerce or complete CA Foundation and then join CA Intermediate. You should undergo 4 weeks of Integrated Course on Information Technology and Softskills. You should complete 8 months of study period. And you should complete articleship training.

CA Final: You should complete Articleship before you register for CA Final course. You should successfully undergo 4 weeks of Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Softskills consisting of courses on Advanced Information Technology and Management Communication skills during the last 2 years of practical training but before appearing in for CA Finals.
