There are immense opportunities for improving the process efficiency in terms of waste management and energy utilization in all the industries including oil refineries, FMCG manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, etc. The focus is towards integration of engineering with sustainability. The research is shifting towards molecular dimensions to bring a revolutionary change in the processes.
In terms of monetary benefits, there are vey high paying jobs in oil, pharmaceuticals, FMCG companies, etc. There is a lot of funding available for academic research as well in recognised institutions.
