Greetings,

They are both wonderful branches by themselves.

- Difference in Placements:

IT and CSE offer much more placement opportunities as of now. Civil students generally lack private sector placements in most colleges. The average packages differ based on colleges but more or less for both, IT and civil the least they are offered in all colleges is about 2-3 lacs per annum.

- Higher studies opportunities:

generally, Civil students opt for either government jobs (PSUs through GATE) or M.tech to develop expertise in a certain area and improve placement chances.

- Skill and Saturation:

I personally feel that IT is not a sufficient course in itself even though so many students are offered jobs after completing it. As far as expertise is concerned, civil is a better branch with a more robust academic structure and solid foundation building in engineering drawing, calculations and more.

The bottom line is that - as of now, placement wise IT triumphs over civil but as far as core branch value is concerned civil branch offers a consistent flow of opportunities as the civil engineering job market is not as volatile as the computer job market.

good day

Hello student!
Please refer the following:

Both are entirely different fields.

If you are good in maths, you will not face difficulty to study either of the branch.

In IT (Information Technology), you will get job faster than Civil.

In IT, you will get job, if you know a programming language or network knowledge. For civil , after b tech you may need to study an additional certification course like autocad, interior designing etc.

In India, salary for IT will be higher than Civil.

In Govt sector more vaccancies and jobs will be available for Civil than IT.

Civil, all will call you and consider you an ENGINEER. But in IT field you need to have a costly car, house, profile to get the same respect.

Atlast the passion, that is important. I never felt like working, because IT job is my passion. Think which job will make you happy, then decide.

All my points are based on the big life which you are going to live after your college life. In college which ever branch you chose, study well and enjoy college life.

All the very best.
Hope this helps you!
Regards!
