Conclusion of davision and German experiment on the nature of electron??
Hello Dhananjaya
Conclusion
Davisson-Germer experiment obtained the conclusion that electrons exhibit wave nature also , thus , supporting the hypothesis given by de-broglie regarding wave-particle duality of matter. This experiment involved bombardment of a nickel crystal in vaccum by accelerated electrons coming out of an electron gun. There is a heated filament inside the electron gun. Thus electrons were scattered and Bragg's law gave the angle of maximum scattering. Bragg's law is stated as : n times the wavelength = 2d sin( 90 degrees - theta/2 ). Experimental values indicated a wavelength of 0.165 nm. A wavelength of 0.167 nm is obtained for an electron having kinetic energy of 54 eV which is obtained at an angle ( theta ) of 50 degrees and at 54 volts. These criteria of voltage and angle, produce the highest intensity. Thus , the experiment showed that electrons have wave nature as well.
