Hello

Number of Hours put in per day won't take you anywhere it is all about

right directed preparation matters !!

It depends upon the quality of study you are doing instead of number of hours you put in.

But as of now you have asked for it I am giving you one

A year preparation plan  2-3 hours per day

6 months preparation plan  3-4 hours per day

3 months preparation plan  4-5 hours per day

2 months preparation plan  5-6 hours per day

1 month preparation plan  8 hours per day

The above estimation is as per the duration of preparation one can spend with an idea of completing the syllabus in time.

It can vary from individual to an individual.

I wish you all the best.

Cheers !!

Hello,

I absolutely understand your query but there's no such hard and fast rule of any fixed or variable amount of time for preparation. It all depends upon how much are you able to manage the topics of different subjects. All you need to ensure that you make plans of completing a particular topic of a particular subject in, say, a week and then work towards completing it.

For instance, suppose you decide to complete arithmetic in two weeks for QA, 20 RCs in a week and 15 DI-LR sets in a week, then do that positively. And ensure that you devote your time proportionately to each subject and topic and slightly more if you find any particular subject or topic,  a little difficult or tedious. I can not tell you a fixed time for preparation because it varies from individual to individual but yes here are few parameters that you can consider to gauge your time :

*ease and convenience in any particular subject

*time that you have each day (managing time between college /work and CAT preparation)

Whatever amount of time you are devoting, do make it a point to read all the three subjects each day, even if you can contribute only 3 hours approximately.

As your CAT nears, try to stretch it to 7-8 hours a day exclusive of a 3- hour mock test that you would be giving.

Apart from preparing for these subjects, also try to read newspapers each day and magazine (like frontline, business world) per month to add to your knowledge.

All the best!!

It all depends on the time you start from. If you are starting now for next year's CAT you would require at least 2 hours per day for the next 6 months to cover the basics depending on your speed of understanding and solving questions. If you have joined a coaching institute you need to atleast cover what has been taught there daily.

After May usually the Mock CATs start which are very essential to prepare the strategy for the main exam. So you need to appear for at least one mock per week and then analyse your performance. You should be able to cover up the complete course by August so that you have sufficient time for revision. After September you need to devote 4 to 6 hours daily for the mocks and revision.

These time duration I have shared are for a candidate with a normal speed of understanding and solving. If you can understand quicky you will need lesser time.

All the best!
