Syllabus - First and foremost you should know the JEE Syllabus that is for Mains as well as for JEE Advanced. This will help you to identify what are you weak and strong areas. You will be able to assess how much time you will need to devote for each subject and topics and for this you are the best judge. Once you know how much of time you need for each of them, you will be able to draw a clear cut time table for yourself.
Exam Pattern- Once you know the syllabus, then you should also know the exam pattern as in how many questions will be asked, which topics are given more weightage, what is the marking scheme like, if there is negative marking, then how many marks will be deducted as well as the duration of the exam.
