Hello dear !

Greetings!

The poem daddy is a well known poem in the genre of "confessional poetry " written by one of the most famous poet of this genre "Sylvia Plath " .

  1. This poem is also a representation of plath's relationship with her father .
  2. Plath's father "Otto plath" died when the author was only eight . So through this poem she depicts the emotions and feelings attached with her father's death.
  3. The first few lines of the poem "you do not do you do not do anymore , in which I have lived like a foot " is meant to be simply a reminder that all her memories with her father are attached to only her childhood .
  4. The insight into Sylvia's own pysche makes this poem a real confessional poem .
  5. She even revealed how her father's absence has affected her life by mentioning her suicide attempt in these lines " at twenty I tried to die , to get back , back to you ..but I stuck into the sack and they stuck me with the glue  "
  6. Plath even exposes her intimacy with her husband which makes her poetry and this poem to be a true confessional poem .

Thank you !
