So, you want to do a medical course. well, there are many courses related to medicine that you can opt for. You can either be a doctor or some other kind of medical professional. Admission to these courses is either based on entrance exams ( for Undergraduate) or class 12th marks (diploma).
Exams that you need to give in order to enter the medical field-
1.NEET UG
• AIIMS – MBBS
• JIPMER- MBBS
• AIIMS (Paramedical Courses)
• State-level entrance examinations for paramedical and nursing colleges and Private college ( to know more about them, you need to see the official websites of state-level medical universities)
COURSES TO BE A DOCTOR-
1.MBBS- a bachelor's of medicine and bachelors of surgery degree, this is the most prestigious degree to opt for. But the competition is very tough, the marks required are very high therefore you must score in the 90th percentile (600-700 marks in NEET) to secure a seat in government medical college.
2. BDS- A Bachelor's in Dental Surgery degree, and a 4-and-a-half-year course, it will make you an authentic dentist. Admission is through NEET score. (generally, 500 marks in NEET for government college.
3.BHMS- A Bachelor's in Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery, it makes you a homeopathic doctor. Though the field is less than MBBS, you are nonetheless a doctor and can practice in homeopathic hospitals. Admission on based of NEET score (400- 500 marks)
4. BAMS- A Bachelor's in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, it makes you a certified Ayurveda doctor. With the government putting much effort to revive and promote Ayurveda, you have scope in the future. Admission on based of NEET score (400- 500 marks).
5.BUMS- A Bachelor's in Unani Medicine and Surgery, this degree makes you a doctor in Unani field. But Unani courses have another criterion too along with NEET score (300-400 marks).
OTHER MEDICAL COURSES-
1. PARA- There are many paramedical courses that you can do and then work in hospitals and clinics such as BPT (physiotherapy), BOT (occupational therapy), B.Sc. MLT (medical lab technology) to name a few.
2. NURSING- You can do a Diploma and B.Sc. Nursing also. But the course is usually meant for female candidates.
3. PHARMACY- Pharmacy is also a good option. After completion of your diploma or B. Pharma, you can work in hospitals or open your own pharmacy shop and can even work for corporate companies.
