Hello Raju,
IIT's and NIT's are the most popular and prestigious technical institutions of India. Every engineering student has a dream to get into this institution. It requires lots of hard work and dedication to get into this institutions. Students has a lots of burden on their shoulder as they have to prepare for JEE main and advanced and also for their 12 th board examination simultaneously.
In order to take admission in IITs and NITs a student needs to clear JEE main and advanced and also a basic eligibility criteria for everyone to seat in the councilling is that
The candidates should satisfy at least one of the following two criteria for admission to IITs : Must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 65% or must be in the top 20 percentiles.
So even if you have a very good JEE results but if you do not satisfy the basic eligibility criteria of 12 th board percentage then you will not be able to get IIT or NIT.
So Dear Raju same is the case with you if you want to get into IIT or NIT you must secure atleast 75% in your boards.
Hope this helps.
Further if any queries feel free to ask.
All the best!!
Regards.

greetings raju,
if you are a general category student, 70% is not enough. you need a minimum of 75%.
if you are a reserved category, a relaxation of 10% i.e. 65% is fine.
otherwise, your rank in jee should be superb to make it to the iits or nits.
