Dear Rahul, M.Sc is a Master's programme. B.Tech is a Bachelor's programme. Now not every M.Sc programme is compatible to study M.Tech. Only those Candidates who have completed their M.Sc in Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications or equivalent courses are applicable. Which means these courses are compatible with M.Tech. The basics will be the same. Your M.Tech syllabus will be just build on that. So there is no problem while attempting to study M.Tech after M.Sc. To qualify in GATE, you need to study either BE/B.Tech or M.Sc

Hello,

Yes, of course you can apply for the GATE examination because according to the eligibility conditions Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes can also apply.

Hope it helps
