About Ground Water: Groundwater is an important part of the water cycle. Groundwater is the part of precipitation that seeps down through the soil until it reaches rock material that is saturated with water. Water in the ground is stored in the spaces between rock particles . Groundwater slowly moves underground, generally at a downward angle (because of gravity), and may eventually seep into streams, lakes, and oceans. It commonly contains less contamination than surface water because the rock tends to act as a filter to remove some contaminants. Ground Water is called as hard water due the presence of high mineral content.

Hello candidate,
Here is the detailed statement regarding what groundwater is and how it is formed and used- The Groundwater is water that exists underground in saturated zones beneath the land surface. The upper surface of the saturated zone is called the water table.
If groundwater flows naturally out of rock materials or if it can be removed by pumping (in useful amounts), the rock materials are called aquifers. Hope you found it helpful!!
