difference Between NIT & IIIT collages
Hi aspirant,
The National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are autonomous public technical Colleges located in India and are among most reputable institutes of technology in the world. They are governed by the National Institute of Technology Act 2007 which declared them as Institution of National Importance. There are 31 NITs in India.
Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) are a group of institutes of higher education in India, focused on information technology. Five of them are established, funded and managed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The rest are set up on the public-private partnership (PPP) model. They mainly offer Computer science and(CSE) engineering, Information Technology+IT) and Electronic and Communication engineering(ECE).
The admission in all NITs are undertaken through JoSAA counselling. On the other hand, Not all IITs takes admission through JoSAA counselling. Although majority of them do .
In order to take admission in NITs and IITs, one needs to write JEE Main.

Hello student ,
National Institute of technology and Indian Institue of technology is the central government colleges . Major differnce is that Indian Institute if technology is the top ranking college in India for puruing engineering course . Whereas National Institute of technology is the second top college for engineering course .IIT is the first choice for engineering students whereas NIT is second choice for students in India. One would like to go to an NIT if he didn't get a good IIT.
Further if we talk in yerms of competition then IIT has damn too high as compared to NITs.
Hope this will help you !
hello aspirant,
it truly depends on what stream are you willing to take and what rank have you got in the JEE Mains paper.
IIITs (Triple I-Ts) -
they are institutes focusing mainly on computer and information technology area whereas on the other hand
IITs and NITs have focus on all engineering subjects.
All institutes are autonomous and admission in NITs and IIITs is through JEE Main while in IITs admission is through JEE Advanced.
hope that helps
