difference if we do geography Hons or ba ma geography
Hello aspirant,
Here are the differences
While a BA (Honors) Geography gives you a detailed and specialized knowledge of Geography only, a BA (Geo) would mean you study a lot many subjects (typically 6, in the 3 years of your duration) before choosing Geography as a major subject from your second year.
BA (Hons) Geo.- Usually 4 mandatory papers of Geography in each semester and other interdisciplinary/optional/ elective courses each in every semester. The 4 geography papers would consist of different papers from Human Geography, Physical Geography. One out of four papers in every semester would be a practical one, such as Cartography, Remote Sensing, GIS & GPS, Field Techniques, Statistics, etc. Consequently, you study at least 34–36 papers of Geography in your three years of graduation. Papers such as Tourism Geography, Political Geography, Agriculture Geography, Settlement Geography, etc are offered, which may otherwise be unheard of in the plain BA (Geography) courses.
BA (Geo)- There is nothing very special about the course and every student has to choose her major subject by the mid of their graduation. In your first year, you may thus be sitting with people from other majors in the same classroom. You typically study a lot of other subjects, 6 at the least, each having equal importance. By the time you come up in the higher class, your subjects keep narrowing down until you are left with only two major subjects in the final year of your graduation.
All the best for your future
