Hello,

Master of Philosophy is an academic research degree, that allows students to master a particular subject, and provides proper knowledge for further research. It is a two year long programme that is concerned with the basics of research. There's usually no stipend and the programme is structured with course work and dissertation.

Doctor of Philosophy is an internationally acknowledged, highest level research degree course, offered by universities, that seeks to add something new in the already existing knowledge. The three year long programme is concerned with fresh research and data collection. There's a certain amount of stipend offered to students with the programme being structured with course work and thesis work.

Hope this helps you. We wish you the best for your future endeavours!

HELLO,

MPHIL, means "MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY" and PHD means "DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY". both the degrees are research based and can be opted after the master's degree has been completed . The MPHIL degree is mostly a thesis based course and known as a Senior OR Second Master's Degree between a PHD and a taught masters degree.

The MPHIL is a less advance qualification than the PHD in which the student is expected to master a content  area  and can be completed in two years full time study. The MPHIL dissertation is normally shorter than the PHD thesis . The MPHIL is also a legitimate higher degree qualification in its own right.

HOPE THIS HELP!

Hey!

M.Phil means Master of Philosophy and Ph.D. means doctor of Philosophy. Both the degrees are are based on research and can be pursued after completion of master's degree.

But the difference is that M.Phil. is mostly thesis based course and known as a senior/second master's degree. Ph.D. has an higher edge over M.Phil. MPhil is generally used as training in advanced research work. On the other hand, A student who completes PhD degree, he/she known to as a “Doctor”. The term “Doctorate of Philosophy” does not only relates to the field Philosophy but is used in a wider spectrum.

Hope this answer helps!
