Dear Julpikar, JIPMER stands for Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. It is an autonomous institute funded by the central govt. of India. It has courses from undergraduation like MBBS, B.Sc and Post graduation courses like MD, MS and other allied courses. When you attempt to write JIPMER entrance test, you are basically applying for seats only for that particular institute. The same applies to AIIMS as well.

NEET stands for National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for admission into MBS and BDS courses in India for Medical and Dental Colleges across India. So are when you attempt NEET, you are not applying for any particular institute but are trying to be eligible for Medical/Dental Colleges across India. NEET is an exception for JIPMER and AIIMS as these institutes are established through an act of Parliament. Hope this helps..
