differentiate between spermatogenesis and oogenesis
Hello Sweta,
The difference between Spermatogenesis and Oogenesis is:-
Spermatogenesis
1.The production of sperms from spermatogonia which occurs in testes of a male body is known as Spermatogenesis.
2. All stages of spermatogenesis completed in testes.
3. It is a continuous process.
Oogenesis
1.The production of eggs from oogonia which occurs inside the ovary of the female body is known as Oogenesis.
2. Most of the stages completed in the ovary and the last stage occurred in the oviduct.
3. It is a discontinued process.
This is the basic difference between Spermatogenesis and Oogenesis.
Hello Aspirant,
Oogenesis is the process of formation of mature secondary oocytes , spermatogenesis is the formation of sperms(mature male germ cells).Oogenesis therefore occurs in females, beginning before birth(in early fetal life), completes at puberty and continues to menopause.Spermatogenesis happen in males, begins at puberty and continues to old age.In oogenesis, second meiosis results into 4daughter cells, one of which becomes mature secondary oocyte while there are converted to polar bodies that sion degenerates.Contrary to oogenesis, four daughter cells resulting from meiosis in spermatogenesis are all converted to mature sperms.Oogenesis takes a longer time for it to complete compared to spermatogenesis which takes approximately 64 days only.
