differentiate between the surface and ground water . describe the factors responsible for degradation of water
Hi!!!
Hope you are doing well.
The difference between surface and ground water are :
- Surface water is found on the surface of the earth. On the other hand, ground water is located below the earth's surface.
- Surface water has low mineral content and is more contaminated. On the other hand, ground water is less contaminated as the rocks above the ground water level work as filters.
- Due to less minerals, surface water is also known as soft water. On the other hand, due to minerals picked during the process of filtration via the rock it is considered as hard water.
Factors responsible for degradation of water are :-
- Dumping.
- Sewage water.
- Industrial Waste.
- Oil pollution.
- Acid Rain.
- Heating.
- Eutrophication.
Hope you are clear now. Feel free to ask if you have any other queries. All The Best!!!
Hello there
Surface water is that water which is available on the land in various forms such as rivers, Ocean, seas, ponds, lakes and some other sources.
Whereas if I talk about groundwater then it is the water which is stored underground that seeps into the soil and is located in large aquifers under the ground. These are the same waters which we access through our motors and by digging Wells.
There are various reasons by which water is getting degraded day by day such as acid precipitation, sewage and wastewater,Industrial waste, dumping and much more like these activities.
Hello candidate,
Let's first discuss the difference between surface and ground water- Surface water includes the freshwater that is channeled into stream systems, lakes, and wetlands on land. Groundwater, on the other hand, is contained in subterranean aquifers within the rock layers below the water table – the underground boundary that divides the saturated and unsaturated levels of the ground.
The main reasons for its degradation are- Improper rain water harvesting methodology, overuse of ground water, excessive drilling of crust, etc. Hope you found it helpful!!
