Hello Aspirant,

Groundwater is the water which is present underground in vast aquifers and it is pumped out of the ground after drilling a deep well.

Whereas , Surface water is the water which is found on the surface of the earth like lakes, rivers, streams and is also used for public water supply by an intake.

Some of the factors responsible for water degradation are-

  • Sewage water dumped directly in water bodies
  • Industrial waste
  • Oil pollution

  • Eutrophication.

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck!!
