No, its totally different. PUC is of two years duration and mainly consist of theory in the syllabus and focuses on providing theoretical knowledge in a candidate while Diploma on the other hand is a three years of theory + practicals based syllabus.
Diploma involves lots of projects/practicals and even experiments.
PUC has only 1 major board exam named as 2nd PUC exam which is conducted by the PU Board. While Diploma has board exams every six months which is called semester wise exam and in between projects and assignment are also conducted.
