Solution : As per the given information, the movement of a boy will look as follows -
In the Given Figure, A is the starting point and H is the finishing point. So, AH is the distance from the starting point.
Here, AB = 8 km, BC = 3 km , CD = 2 km
And, DE = EF = 1 km
CG = CD + DG = 2 + 1 = 3 km
Now, AH = AB – BH = 8 – 3 = 5 km
So, the distance from the starting point i.e. AH is 5 km.
Hence, the second option is correct.
