Question : Direction : In the following question,one / two statements are given followed by two Conclusions /assumptions I and II.You have to consider the statement to be true, even if it seems to be at variance from commonly known facts. You are to decide which of the given conclusions can be definitely be drawn from the given statement. 

Statement : The crop condition continues to be critical even after the rains.

Conclusions :

I.  The crop condition was not critical before rains.

II. The crop condition was expected to improve after the rains.

Option 1: Only Conclusion I follow.

Option 2: Neither Conclusion I nor II follows.

Option 3: Both Conclusions I and II follow.

Option 4: Only Conclusion II follows.

Correct Answer: Only Conclusion II follows.


Solution : Conclusion I: The crop condition was not critical before rains.
In the above statement, it's clearly mentioned that 'even after the rains' which means it was critical before rains as well. Hence it's incorrect.

Conclusion II: The crop condition was expected to improve after the rains.
In the above statement, it's clearly mentioned that 'continues to be critical even after the rains' which means it was expected to improve after rains. Hence it's correct.

Therefore, from the above we can say that conclusion II satisfies the statement.

Hence, option fourth is correct.
