Question : Directions: A bus driver started from point A and drove 25 km towards the east. He turned left and drove 30 km. He then turned left and drove 15 km. He again turned left drove 30 km and reached point B. How far and in which direction is the point B from the point A?

Option 1: 40 km, West

Correct Answer: 10 km, East


Solution : According to the instructions given, the diagram is as follows –

Here, A is the starting point and B is the finishing point and AB is the total distance from the starting point.

AC = 25 km; BC = ED = 15 km; CD = BE = 30 km
And, AB = AC – BC = 25 – 15 = 10 km

So, the distance between point B and point A is 10 and is in the East direction. Hence, the fourth option is correct.
