Solution : Given:
1. Application 2. Apoapses 3. Apophis 4. Appeared

Step 1: Compare the first letter of each word. Since all the words start with the same letter A , then move on to the next letter.
Step 2: The second letter of each word is the same, i.e., p , then move on to the next letter.
Step 3: The third letter of each word is either p or o . Based on the alphabetical order of these letters, we can arrange them – Ap o apses, Ap o phis, Ap p lication, Ap p eared
Step 4: Compare the fourth letter of (Apo a pses, Apo p his) and (App l ication, App e ared). Apoapses will come before Apophis as a comes before p in alphabetical order. Similarly, Appeared will come before Application as e comes before l in alphabetical order.

So, the sequence is Apoapses, Apophis, Appeared, Application, or 2, 3, 4, 1. Hence, the second option is correct.
