Correct Answer: Both I and II
Solution :
Given:
7 × 9 + 5 – 8 ÷ 4 = 42
9 × 3 + 5 ÷ 1 – 4 = 20
Equation I:
7 × 9 + 5 – 8 ÷ 4 = 42
After interchanging 5 and 9, the equation becomes –
⇒ 7 × 5 + 9 – 8 ÷ 4 = 42
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
⇒ 7 × 5 + 9 – 2
⇒ 35 + 9 – 2
⇒ 44 – 2
⇒ 42 = R.H.S.
Equation II:
9 × 3 + 5 ÷ 1 – 4 = 20
After interchanging 5 and 9, the equation becomes –
⇒ 5 × 3 + 9 ÷ 1 – 4 = 20
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
⇒ 5 × 3 + 9 – 4
⇒ 15 + 9 – 4
⇒ 24 – 4
⇒ 20 = R.H.S.
So, both the equations satisfy the R.H.S. of the given equations. Hence, the second option is correct.
