Solution :
Let's check the options –
First option:
9 – 7 × 2 + 6 ÷ 3 = 11
On interchanging the given signs and numbers, the equation becomes –
⇒
7 – 9 ÷ 2 + 6 × 3 = 11
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 7 – 4.5 + 6 × 3
= 7 – 4.5 + 18
= 25 – 4.5
= 20.5 ≠ 11
Second option:
9 + 4 × 3 – 7 ÷ 1 = 40
On interchanging the given signs and numbers, the equation becomes –
⇒ 7 + 4 ÷ 3 – 9 × 1 = 40
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 7 + 1.33 – 9 × 1
= 7 + 1.33 – 9
= 8.33 – 9
= –0.67 ≠ 40
Third option:
8 × 3 ÷ 6 + 9 – 7 = 14
On interchanging the given signs and numbers, the equation becomes –
⇒ 8 ÷ 3 × 6 + 7 – 9 = 14
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 16 + 7 – 9
= 23 – 9
= 14
Fourth option:
9 × 3 + 4 ÷ 2 – 7 = 18
On interchanging the given signs and numbers, the equation becomes –
⇒ 7 ÷ 3 + 4 × 2 – 9 = 18
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 2.33 + 4 × 2 – 9
= 2.33 + 8 – 9
= 10.33 – 9
= 1.33 ≠ 18
So, only the equation in the third option satisfies the R.H.S. of the given equation. Hence, the third option is correct.
