Correct Answer: 18 and 6

Solution : Given:
16 + 6 ÷ 18 – 5 × 1 = 14

Interchange the numbers in the options one by one in the given equation.
First option: 5 and 16
5 + 6 ÷ 18 – 16 × 1 = 14
⇒ 5 + 0.34 – 16 × 1 = 14
⇒ 5 + 0.34 – 16 = 14
⇒ 5.34 – 16 = 14
⇒ –10.66 ≠ 14
Second option: 14 and 18
16 + 6 ÷ 14 – 5 × 1 = 18
⇒ 16 + 0.43 – 5 × 1 = 18
⇒ 16 + 0.43 – 5 = 18
⇒ 16.43 – 5 = 18
⇒ 11.43 ≠ 18
Third option: 5 and 14
16 + 6 ÷ 18 – 14 × 1 = 5
⇒ 16 + 0.34 – 14 × 1 = 5
⇒ 16 + 0.34 – 14 = 5
⇒ 16.34 – 14
⇒ 2.34 ≠ 5
Fourth option: 18 and 6
16 + 18 ÷ 6 – 5 × 1 = 14
⇒ 16 + 3 – 5 × 1 = 14
⇒ 16 + 3 – 5 = 14
⇒ 19 – 5
⇒ 14 = R.H.S

Therefore, only the fourth option satisfies the R.H.S. of the given equation. Hence, the fourth option is correct.
