(1 * 2 = 1→(1 + 2) – (1 × 2) = 3 – 2 = 1 (2 * 3) = –1→(2 + 3) – (2 × 3) = 5 – 6 = –1 (3 * 4) = –5→(3 + 4) – (3 × 4) = 7 – 12 = –5 Similarly, (7 * 9)→(7 + 9) – (7 × 9) = 16 – 63 = –47
