Solution : Given: 12 April 2004 is a Monday.
Let's calculate the total number of days from the 12th of April 2004 to the 24th of May 2012 –
Number of days from 12 April 2004 to 31 December 2004 = 18 + 31 + 30 + 31 + 31 + 30 + 31 + 30 + 31 = 263 Number of days from 1 January 2005 to 31 December 2011 = (7 × 365) + 1 = 2556 (1 leap year) Number of days from 1 January 2012 to 24 May 2012 = 31 + 29 + 31 + 30 + 24 = 145 So, the total number of days from 12 April 2004 to 24 May 2012 = 263 + 2556 + 145 = 2964 Now, on dividing 2964 by 7, we get 423 as the quotient and 3 as the remainder.
Therefore, add 3 to Monday, Monday + 3 = Thursday
So, the 24th of May 2012 will be Thursday. Hence, the first option is correct.
