Correct Answer: C

Solution : Given:
(I) In the middle of a horse race, horse E was ahead of horse D.
E > D
(II) Horse C was ahead of Horse A but Horse B was lagging.
B > C > A
(III) Horse A was moving ahead of Horse E. From this point, the fourth–place horse moved ahead and won the race.
A > E
By combining the above three statements the final arrangement is given below –
B > C > A > E > D
At one point, a horse in fourth place crossed all the horses and won the race.
The horse in fourth place is E
E > B > C > A > D.

So, the horse C is in the middle position. Hence, the first option is correct.
