Question : Directions: Select the set in which the numbers are related in the same way as the numbers of the following sets. (NOTE: Operations should be performed on the whole numbers, without breaking down the numbers into their constituent digits. E.g. 13 – operations on 13 such as adding /subtracting /multiplying etc. to 13 can be performed. Breaking down 13 into 1 and 3 and then performing mathematical operations on 1 and 3 is not allowed.)
(7, 13, 10)
(15, 21, 18)

Option 1: (9, 14, 12)

Option 2: (8, 15, 22)

Option 3: (11, 15, 13)

Correct Answer: (11, 15, 13)

Solution : Given:
(7, 13, 10); (15, 21, 18)

Divide the difference between the first and second numbers by 2, and then subtract the resultant number from the second number, to obtain the third number in the given set of numbers –
⇒ (7, 13, 10)→(13 – 7) ÷ 2 = 6 ÷ 2 = 3 and 13 – 3 = 10
⇒ (15, 21, 18)→(21 – 15) ÷ 2 = 6 ÷ 2 = 3 and 21 – 3 = 18

Let's check the options –
First option: (9, 14, 12)→(14 – 9) ÷ 2 = 5 ÷ 2 = 2.5 and 14 – 2.5 = 11.5 ≠ 12
Second option: (8, 15, 22)→(15 – 8) ÷ 2 = 7 ÷ 2 = 3.5 and 15 – 3.5 = 11.5 ≠ 22
Third option: (11, 15, 13)→(15 – 11) ÷ 2 = 4 ÷ 2 = 2 and 15 – 2 = 13
Fourth option: (5, 10, 15)→(10 – 5) ÷ 2 = 5 ÷ 2 = 2.5 and 10 – 2.5 = 7.5 ≠ 15

So, only the third option follows the same pattern as followed by the given set of numbers. Hence, the third option is correct.
