Question : Directions: Select the set in which the numbers are related similarly to the numbers of the given sets.
(NOTE: Operations should be performed on the whole numbers, without breaking down the numbers into their constituent digits. E.g. 13 – operations on 13 such as adding/subtracting /multiplying etc. to 13 can be performed. Breaking down 13 into 1 and 3 and then performing mathematical operations on 1 and 3 is NOT allowed.)
(4, 5, 83)
(5, 5, 102)

Option 1: (8, 9, 330)

Option 2: (3, 3, 11)

Option 3: (7, 6, 170)

Correct Answer: (8, 3, 123)

Solution : Given:
(4, 5, 83); (5, 5, 102)

In the given sets, add the first and second numbers, then find the square of the resultant and add 2 to it, to obtain the third number.
(4, 5, 83)→4 + 5 = 9; (9) 2 = 81; 81 + 2 = 83
(5, 5, 102)→5 + 5 = 10; (10) 2 = 100; 100 + 2 = 102
Now, let's check the options –
First option: (8, 9, 330)→8 + 9 = 17; (17) 2 = 289; 289 + 2 = 291
330
Second option: (3, 3, 11)→3 + 3 = 6; (6) 2 = 36; 36 + 2 = 38 11
Third option: (7, 6, 170)→7 + 6 = 13; (13) 2 = 169; 169 + 2 = 171 170
Fourth option: (8, 3, 123)→8 + 3 = 11; (11) 2 = 121; 121 + 2 = 123

So, only the fourth option follows the same pattern as followed by the given set of numbers. Hence, the fourth option is correct.
