Question : Directions: Three Statements are given followed by Three conclusions numbered I, II and III. Assuming the statements to be true, even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts, decide which of the conclusions logically follow(s) from the statements.
Statements:
All curtains are doormats.
Some doormats are pillows.
Some pillows are bedsheets.
Conclusions:
I. Some bedsheets are doormats.
II. Some bedsheets are curtains.
III. Some pillows are doormats.

Solution : The possible Venn diagram according to the given statements is as follows –

Let's analyse the conclusions –
Conclusion I: Some bedsheets are doormats – From the above diagram, it can be seen that there is no direct relation between bedsheets and doormats. Therefore, this conclusion is false.
Conclusion II: Some bedsheets are curtains – From the above diagram, it can be seen that there is no direct relation between bedsheets and curtains. Therefore, this conclusion is false
Conclusion III: Some pillows are doormats – From the above diagram, it can be seen that there is a direct relation between pillows and doormats, and as mentioned in the statement some doormats are pillows, so opposites also apply. Therefore, this conclusion is true.

So, only conclusion III follows. Hence, the first option is correct.
