Solution : Given: 88 + 8 – 17 × 16 ÷ 40 = ?
After interchanging the signs as per instructions, the new equation will be –
= 88 ÷ 8 × 17 – 16 + 40 = 11 × 17 – 16 + 40 = 187 – 16 + 40 = 227 – 16 = 211
So, the equation is equal to 211. Hence, the fourth option is correct.
