Correct Answer: 12 and 72

Solution : Given:
12 ÷ 72 × 3 – 13 = 5

Replace the given numbers according to the options one by one with the original numbers in the given equation.
First option: 13 and 5
= 12 ÷ 72 × 3 – 5 = 13
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 0.166 × 3 – 5
= 0.5 – 5
= –4.5 ≠ 13
Second option: 13 and 3
= 12 ÷ 72 × 13 – 3 = 5
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 0.166 × 13 – 3
= 2.167 – 3
= –0.84 ≠ 5
Third option: 12 and 3
= 3 ÷ 72 × 12 – 13 = 5
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 0.0416 × 12 – 13
= 0.5 – 13
= –12.5 ≠ 5
Fourth option: 12 and 72
= 72 ÷ 12 × 3 – 13 = 5
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 6 × 3 – 13
= 18 – 13
= 5 = R.H.S.

So, only the fourth option satisfies the R.H.S. of the given equation. Hence, the fourth option is correct.
