Solution : Given:
96 ÷ 3 – 24 + 16 × 8 = 36

Interchange the given numbers according to the options one by one in the given equation.
First option: 8 and 3
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 96 ÷ 8 – 24 + 16 × 3
= 12 – 24 + 48
= 36 = R.H.S.
Second option: 24 and 3
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 96 ÷ 24 – 3 + 16 × 8
= 4 – 3 + 128
= 129 ≠ 36
Third option: 96 and 24
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 24 ÷ 3 – 96 + 16 × 8
= 8 – 96 + 128
= 40 ≠ 36
Fourth option: 8 and 16
Solving the L.H.S. of the equation –
= 96 ÷ 3 – 24 + 8 × 16
= 32 – 24 + 128
= 136 ≠ 36

So, only the first option satisfies the R.H.S. of the given equation. Hence, the first option is correct.
