Correct Answer: 35 and 45; × and –

Solution : Given:
35 + 15 – 4 × 45 ÷ 5 = 98

Replace the given symbols and numbers in the options one by one with the original symbols and numbers in the given equation.
First option: 35 and 45; + and –
= 45 – 15 + 4 × 35 ÷ 5
= 30 + 28
= 58 ≠ 98
Second option: 15 and 5; × and +
= 35 × 5 – 4 + 45 ÷ 15
= 175 – 4 + 3
= 174 ≠ 98
Third option: 35 and 45; × and –
= 45 + 15 × 4 – 35 ÷ 5
= 45 + 60 – 7
= 105 – 7
= 98
Fourth option: 35 and 45; × and ÷
= 45 + 15 – 4 ÷ 35 × 5
= 60 + 60 – 0.57
= 119.43 ≠ 98

Here, only the third option satisfies the R.H.S. of the given equation. Hence, the third option is correct.
