discuss indicators of reproductive health
WHO has shortlisted reproductive health indicators:
- TOTAL FERTILITY RATE, TFR
- CONTRACEPTIVE PREVALENCE RATE, CPR
- MATERNAL MORTALITY RATE, MMR
- ANTENATAL CARE COVERAGE
- PERCENT OF BIRTHS ATTENDED BY SKILLED HEALTH PERSONNEL
- AVAILABILITY OF BASIC ESSENTIAL OBSTETRIC CARE
- AVAILABILITY OF COMPREHENSIVE OBSTERIC CARE
- PERINATAL MORTALITY RATE , PMR
- LOW BIRTH WEIGHT PREVALENCE
- POSITIVE SYPHILIS SEROLOGY PREVALENCE IN PREGNANT WOMAN
- PREVALENCE OF ANAEMIA IN WOMEN
- PREVALENCE OF INFERTILITY IN WOMEN
- REPRODUCTIVE INCIDENCE OF URETHRITIS IN MEN
- KNOWLEDGE OF HIV RELATED PREVENTION PRACTICES
The expert group working with WHO on this set of indicators recommends basing the calculation of contraceptive prevalence in all women of reproductive age, in contrast to the convention used by DHS and RHS to report only for married women (or married and single women separately).
