Nature of the Tamilakam society:
Tamilakam refers to the geographical region inhabited by the ancient Tamil people. Tamilakam covered today's Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, Lakshadweep and southern parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Tamil is their native language.
The social Iife in this period is the corpus of the Sangam works. Ancient Tamilakam was ruled by three different empires those are the Chera, Chola, and Pandyas during the Sangam Age.
Ancient Tamilakam people's social life is associated with the division of land.The division of land is called Tinai and each Tinai connected with a specific landscape. In ancient Tamilakam total, five Tinais are present which are Kurinchi, Mullai, Maritham, and Neytal.
