do arts student get asmision in iim a b c wid 68 pc in tenth and 58 pc in twelve...wid 99 percentile in cat as gen category..
Based on your overall academic profile and considering you are a fresher, you will need to score atleast 99 percentile to get a call for the next round of IIM A, B and C.
All the best!
As you know, Apart from cutoffs, There are various factors for shortlisting and selection in IIMs or other top B School after clearing CAT Entrance exam with good score such as past academic records, Extra curricular activity, work experience etc. As per the criteria you should have minimum 60% in your academic to apply for IIM A B C so the chances are less for it but you can expect the call from new IIMs or other top B School because each IIM does not strict for academic records.
But percentile is not the only criteria for calling any student in the next interview round. A merit list is made on the basis of aggregate score of each Candidate which comprises of many factors such as CAT marks, 10th, 12th, graduation marks, work experience, engineer or non engineer, gender with different weightages for different colleges.
Now you don't have a good academic records which will make a little hard for you to get a call from top IIMs. IIM A before making an aggregate score makes up your score based on parameters except CAT marks and there you need to cross a min. Marks Cut off. Then only you are eligible to be evaluated further. Whereas IIM B gives significant weightage to work experience and also to the students who have done exceptionally well in 10th and 12th like scoring above 95% in both the exams. One of my friend didn't got a call from IIM A and B even after scoring 99.83 percentile because of his poor academic records in CAT 2015.
So there is no surity of getting a call even after scoring above 99 percentile in CAT 2017. But you should aim for a very high percentile in order to get a call. After getting a call you can cover up the loss due to academic records by having a fantastic interview and WSAT because they carry maximum weightage in the final list in most of the colleges.
All the best for your preparations and exams!!
