As far as I know for the state Board students cutoff marks are calculated as follows Cut off= (math/2) + (phy/4)+(chem/4) However for CBSE candidates Cut off= (math) +(phy/2)+(chem/2)
But there is normalization( for the cbse students) because it's difficult to score such high cut offs. As in if a student of CBSE student board gets 70 marks in physics when the highest mark in physics for CBSE Board is 95, 70 marks obtained by CBSE student will be considered to be equal to 73.68 (100 x 70 / 95 = 73.68%)
