Hello,
Hope you are doing great! Here's your answer!
Yes! The grading pattern followed is relative grading, where your relative position in the exam matters for your grade. If a professor decides to give a D or an F to the lowest performing student(s) in the exam, it is possible to fail the exam.
There is a very slight possibility that you fail in one of the exams and end up with an "F" grade. All the grades are relative and usually they fall within the bell curve but then this might also depend on the professor. So it is very difficult to get an F and the lowest grade in most of the cases can be a "D". The number of components and the weightages assigned varies from subject to subject. The overall grade is calculated as the weighted average of the grades obtained in these sub components. So even if you get an “F” in any of these components, getting an “F” for the subject is extremely difficult.
The evaluation system works like this:
All the best!
Hope it will help!
