Hello Ambuj

The answer depends on the motive of asking the question.

IIT's do not take in account of your 10th marks and if everything goes well then the criteria of atleast 75% in class 12th to appear for JEE ADV will also be scrapped.

If you want a psychological perspective then for most of the students class 10th marks dont make any sense. For some it may be a motivating factor (if you screw your boards then the eagerness to mend it, if you do great then the desire to do greater) but for many its becomes a thing of past.

Not Directly. 10 marks in IITJEE can make a hell of difference in your rank in the result.

If you have observed the JEE marks carefully then you will notice that the difference between the rank 1 and the rank 50 is hardly of 10 to 12 marks.

Well the thing is that since Lakhs of students appear for IITJEE every year, so in such a situation even 5 marks can drop your rang by 15 or something.

So yes they DO matter.

P.S.- There is a use, your 10th marksheet is important during admission as its a proof of your DOB.
