does a dyslexia student with 40% disability eligible for MBBS as in NTA guidelines they say selection will be based on learning competency of the student. does we get reservation for it? Does reservation quota comes if we get top marks?
According to the NTA Information Bulletin https://ntaneet.nic.in/ntaneet/ShowPdf.aspx? Dyslexia is considered an intellectual disability. MCI has a rule stating that Candidates with learning disability can study MBBS but are not eligible to claim reservation under disability category. To quote the MCI guideline, " lack of objective method/quantification of disability to establish presence and extent of mental illness" is the reason why dyslexia cannot be considered a disability. This means you cannot determine a patient's extent of dyslexia on the basis of one test on one particular day. The MCI guidelines state that a Candidate with or more then 40% dyslexia cannot be recommended for Reservation under PWD. So any Candidate with or more than 40% of dyslexia is eligible to appear for NEET and should he/she secure a seat in MBBS can study but cannot be eligible for PWD reservation.
