well ofcourse automobile engineering does have a future.well it is a sub branch of mechanical engineering as the only difference is that automobile is about machines and mechanical engineering is about study of different parts of machines .
in todays world where the everyone depends on transportation and the every company looks ahead for the new innovation that can be made in vehicles.study of automobile engineering can make you bring many changes in vehicles and make them efficient for the public.

well definetly you can do masters in automobile after your mech .engineering.but if you can want to focus on automobile you should specialize in that stream and be proficient in that .
well career opportunities for automobile industry doesnt only stop in india...you can even have a successful career in western countries like USA,GERMANY,UK ETC..it totally depends on your interest and where you would like to have a job.
