Latest: DU Admission Process
Hi, Zabiullah!
Thank you for question.
Since you have said you are an Afghan asylum seeker, it is important for you to note that if you are a “Foreign National” who:
a) Has a passport or is a citzen of a foreign country which is not India
OR b) Has an OCI/ PIO card and a Passport of a country other than India
then there is some good news for you. You can apply to Delhi University for their UG, PG, M.Phil., Ph.D., Certificate and Diploma courses.
You can either apply through the online process or offline process. The Foreign Students Registry office receives applications through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). This is important for students like you because the ICCR facilitates and provides the scholarship for International applicants to undertake studies in any Indian Universities. Apply through the ICCR Portal to avail these benefits. You should check up on the admission process for Delhi University as soon as possible as admission for their Certificate/Diploma/UG/PG/M.Phil. /Ph.D. programmes for foreign nationals, specifically, starts around January or February.
Foreign national applicants are not required to give entrance exams if any such exam is conducted by the University of Delhi, for admission in the Certificate/ Diploma/ UG/PG/ M.Phil. / Ph.D. programme. Your merit and performance level is the main basis of your admission application in the qualifying examinations, subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility requirement for the said programme and the availability of seats.
Foreign National Applicants have to provide the valid GMAT / CAT score for admission in the following courses:
• Master in Business Administration (HRD)
• Master in Business Administration (International Business)
• Master in Business Administration (Business Economics)
• Ph.D. in Management Studies
However, it is required for all foreign nationals to give their IELTS, TOEFL etc, basic English proficiency tests. But any students who have passed their last qualifying examination series with English as a subject, either from any Indian Boards or their equivalent do not have to give these tests. Especially applicants who have studied from Indian University at the undergraduate level having English as medium of instruction, are exempted from the requirement of giving their IELTS or TOEFL examinations.
You will of course, require a Visa. For admission to the degree programmes, a Student Visa for all/UG/PG/M.Phil Programmes will be required. For a Ph.D programme, you will require a Research Visa. The visa must be endorsed in the name of the University of Delhi. No other endorsement will be held as acceptable in the admission procedure to Delhi University.
You will also require a passport. This is a mandatory document required at the time of the online application itself. However, if you are in the process of obtaining your passport, you can apply now. Upload the receipt of your passport application when you apply online. When this happens, your admission will be subject to the production of your original passport which you will have at the time of your admission itself.
