Basics about it:

For pursuing Masters in linguistics from IIT Patna you need:
There is no seperate exam for this. Institutes like DU and BHU conduct department level examinations. Other institutes that conduct internal exams include Jawaharlal Nehru University. 12/equivalent qualification & Bachelor's degree with a honours including all streams of B.A./ B.Sc./ B.Tech with English as one of the subjects with a minimum of 55% or 6.0 CPI in a scale of 10, without rounding off in Honours subject (50%/5.5 CPI in a scale of 10, for SC/ST/ PD candidates). So, your BA HONS. IN ENGLISH LITERATURE is all fine.
