There are people who have succeeded in spite of not being an IIT'ian and there are also people who have failed in-spite of being an IIT'ian. So it is nothing that these colleges have. It's all upon an individual.

All the very best and good luck.

This is the best question you have asked and I have found up till now.

The answer is a big nooooo.

IITs are places which gives you platform easily to show case your knowledge and talent to world.

But on the other hand, there have been many instances where great people have done their bachelors not from a good college, still they are at the best position in the world.

How come like this, you might be wondering ??

This was because they continuously worked hard. They had to struggle but then this struggle became their strength. At last this strength converted into a great success.

You would always get a bundle of opportunities in future to get your success reach at peak inspite of not getting admission into IIT or NIT

Hello Sagar,

No, and there's nothing to "do" about the fact that you didn't get into IIT/NIT/BITS. While there's no denying that these institutions are, to varying degrees, better than the rest, not gaining admission into these colleges is nothing to feel sad/hopeless about.

I'm in the third year of my engineering at a college which is not amongst the so called "elite" colleges. And if there's anything I've learnt in these three years, it is that engineering is not something which is "taught", engineering is "learnt". It all depends on you, and no, it is not a random inspirational quip which sounds clever. Faculty with better qualifications does not necessarily mean "better" faculty. What is told in the classrooms in the IITs as well as LPU will essentially be the same, trust me. What, however, makes the former better is the quality of students, not the faculty. The average IIT student lives in an ecosystem where he/she is motivated to come back to the room, read more and gain insight into the subject.

Thus, irrespective of where you study, it is YOUR interest which will make all the difference. IIT and it's professors have no magic wand to make people successful. Yes, there will be some exposure which you will be missing in other colleges, but in the era of the internet, that handicap is easily overcome.

The most important thing is is to keep faith in yourself and work hard and steadily towards a goal. Wherever you study, do your best. Look up everything on the internet. Go through MIT Open Course Ware. Listen to NPTEL lectures. Read the best textbooks. Stand out wherever you are. When you have a doubt, ask experts, on Quora and elsewhere. I repeat again, when you have the internet, a little extra effort is all you need to bridge the gap.

As for "Am I gone?", I hope you would have realized by now, the only place you'll be going is where you choose to go.

All the best

No. And never it would. Life is not defined on the basis of one frickin seat in a college. There is hell lot to do in your life.

However if you are interested in these, then remember there is no harm in it either. So chill and decide your future on the basis of what pleases you rather than what pleases others.

Cheers.

Nope!  But it is an important and healthy first step for a better future
