Does St. Xavier's College have good placements for Journalism and mass communication?
Hello Aspirant,
Look placement in media institutions does not take place like other management institutes. At the end one needs to work towards it. You need to prepare your showreel to project your work. You need to be in touch with your alumni so they can fix up some unpaid internship in their respective media firms for you so that you will havea better understanding of industry functioning. You need to line up your interviews on your own, keep looking for vacancies in different media organisations. You need to perform well during the intership, make solid network out there. And yes there is a posdibility that your institute arrange some interviews within the campus but there is no surity. So do not depend on your college placement, start taking initiative on your own. Campus placement, in today’s digital age, is simply overrated. Yet, most students have the same obsolete mentality inherited from the previous generation of job seekers.
Today’s media world is so diverse and exciting, that getting a job is not that difficult. Indian media is growing and there will not be any shortage of jobs in near future.
That being said, I would suggest, instead of taking a “I need to find a job” approach cultivate a “I must grow my career” approach. Your life will take a different and eventually a better path that way.
XIC’s placement record, for that matter, is superb. The faculty and non teaching staff are very friendly and student focused. The curriculum is world class, the campus is stunning and the facilities are state-of-the-art. And best part is, it’s in the prime part of Mumbai. So do not fret, go for it.
GOOD luck!
