See taking a double drop is always a double edged sword. Many of my close friends took a double drop and are studying Computer Science and Engineering in National Institutes of Technologies like NIT Hamirpur, NIT Kurukshetra and so one, while some others had to go for private colleges like VIT even after taking a double drop.
So, you should take a double drop only and only if you are super sure that you will be able to put in the required efforts and will not slack off in the process. If you can promise yourself this only then go for it.
Moreover, you can also look at the colleges you can get with your this year's rank too.

Hope I have answered your question. All the best!
Hi there.
Many students have taken their second drop for JEE Mains. They do this because they have no better college alternatives and think they can perform much better in a second attempt. It's entirely typical. However, I personally believe that one should only take the second drop if they are positive that doing so will increase their performance. Taking a second dip for JEE Mains is not a wise move, to be honest. Because if you take a second drop, you won't qualify for JEE Advanced and will only be able to apply to institutions through JEE Mains. Therefore, rather than dropping out completely, one should consider which institution they can get into with their current score. A drop out is necessary only when a candidate is sure that he/she can score a better score and will get the desired college. Otherwise, it is advisable not to go for the 2nd drop.
